The Importance of Community Service Many of our students are interested in volunteering their time in our school and community. In addition to the importance of serving others and feeling as though they are making a difference, students often find that community service hours are a requirement for certain scholarship programs, or that those hours may be an excellent addition to their resume. Students who volunteer at least 75 hours per year may choose to apply for the MUSTANG SERVICE AWARD. This award is one of a number of ways in which students may be recognized for their volunteer service.
The following are just a few of the many opportunities for service in the community and around Hempstead. Ask your club advisors or teachers for more possibilities. Parents and students should carefully select the most suitable and safe opportunities possible.
Please use this spreadsheet to keep track of your hours and then turn those into Ms. Houselog in our Library before the end of your Senior year.
