Part of a student's school experience involves some type of standardized testing, including ACT, SAT, or ITP. The following links provide more information, upcoming dates, and further resources.
1. The first step is to contact your child's teacher. Teachers can provide more insight about your child's performance in the classroom, as well as suggest additional resources for student success. The following link will take you to Hempstead's staff directory.
2. Friday Morning Help: Every Friday morning students are able to receive academic support in our school library between the hours of 7:15-8:35. Students in the National Honor Society are available to provide help with classroom assignments, help prepare for an upcoming exam or be someone you can study with. Students can stop in on Friday mornings and find someone to help.
3. Tutor.com through the Carnegie Stout Public Library: This is a live tutoring service paid for by the library. Tutors are available to offer 1 on 1 support in a variety of subject areas between the hours of noon-midnight. Students can use the information on the back of their library card to log in. If a student does not have a city library card, please contact your school counselor for login information. **Click on the link below to access tutoring. Create an account the first time you access the site (do not use your school email) and login each time for optimal use.
4. PrepSTEP: PrepSTEP for High Schools provides online access to a unique and extensive collection of academic, college preparation and career-related tutorials, practice tests, articles, e-books and flashcards. It includes tools for academic skill-building, college and career exploration, college admissions test preparation, military exploration and preparation, workplace skills development and more. 5. Multicultural Family Center: Academic Support is offered for children in grades 1st-12th during the school year (Oct.-May). Weekly 45 minute to one-hour tutoring sessions are offered. Come to the counseling office for registration information or click on the link below.
